SUMMARY:Under the Sea Sculpture Pottery Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Helen McCormick for a creative pottery workshop where you’ll create sculptures inspired by the theme Under the Sea. The workshop is designed to be a relaxed\, friendly space where you can meet new people\, create\, learn and have fun. Throughout the day\, Helen will guide you through traditional hand-building skills and techniques to create a beautiful sea-inspired sculpture. You’ll learn how to form pinch pots\, add surface textures and sculpt marine details\, as well as experiment with colour to bring your piece to life. \nAll materials and equipment are provided. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day\, just bring a packed lunch and an apron (or wear old clothes). If you can trim your nails beforehand\, that will help when working with soft clay. \nAfter the workshop\, Helen will carefully take your finished piece home to fire in my kiln. Each sculpture will be glazed with a transparent stoneware glaze\, making it beautifully durable and waterproof. Your sculpture will be ready to collect approximately 6 weeks after the workshop — I’ll be in touch with a collection date once it’s fired. \nNB: I am happy to store your work for 6 months from the collection date\, after which it will be donated to charity. \nN B: Helen McCormick has a BA Hons in 3D Design\, MA in Ceramics and PGCE with qualified Teacher Status in Art & Design. Helen will guide you step by step through traditional hand-building methods\, helping you shape\, form\, and bring your mythical creature to life. \nAs the workshop progresses\, you’ll discover how to add texture and intricate details\, refining your masterpiece into a striking\, one-of-a-kind work of art. \nAll materials and equipment will be provided. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the workshop. The only thing you need to bring is a packed lunch and an apron or wear old clothes. \nAfter the workshop\, Helen will carefully take your sculpture home and fire it in my kiln. These sculptures are not glazed as the terracotta will age beautifully in your garden over time. Your sculpture will be ready to collect approximately 6 weeks after the workshop from the Walronds. Helen will let you know the date and time. \nNB: Helen is happy to store your work for 6 months from the collection date\, after which time your work will be donated to charity. \nThere is FREE parking at the Walronds. The carpark is located at the back of the building. To access the carpark you will need to turn up Tiverton Road off the High Street\, and then turn left just before the fire station onto Shortlands Lane. It is a narrow lane and easily missed. Drive a few yards up the lane and you will see the sign for the carpark on the left. Turn left and follow the drive through the gate ahead.
