These sculptures are not glazed as the terracotta will age beautifully in your garden over time. Your sculpture will be ready to collect approximately 6 weeks after the workshop from the Walronds. Helen will let you know the date and time. \nNB: Helen is happy to store your work for 6 months from the collection date\, after which time your work will be donated to charity. \nThere is FREE parking at the Walronds. The carpark is located at the back of the building. To access the carpark you will need to turn up Tiverton Road off the High Street\, and then turn left just before the fire station onto Shortlands Lane. It is a narrow lane and easily missed. Drive a few yards up the lane and you will see the sign for the carpark on the left. Turn left and follow the drive through the gate ahead. In the second half of the workshop you will learn how to apply coloured decorating slips to your work through using a brush and slip trailer\, as well as carving into your work to create pattern and texture. No experience necessary. \nAll materials and equipment will be provided. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the evening. The only thing you need to bring is an apron or wear old clothes. If you can trim your nails before hand that would be helpful as you will be handling soft clay. \nAfter the workshop\, Helen will carefully take your beautiful sculpture home and fire it in my kiln. Your sea urchin will be glazed using a stoneware transparent glaze so that it can be used as a vase. Your work will be ready to collect approximately 6 weeks after the workshop. If you can trim your nails beforehand\, that will help when working with soft clay. \nAfter the workshop\, Helen will carefully take your finished piece home to fire in my kiln. In the second half of the workshop you will learn how to apply coloured decorating slips to your work through using a brush and slip trailer\, as well as carving into your work to create pattern and texture. If you can trim your nails before hand that would be helpful as you will be handling soft clay. \nAfter the workshop\, I will carefully take your beautiful sculpture home and fire it in my kiln. Your sea urchin will be glazed using a stoneware transparent glaze so that it can be used as a vase. Your work will be ready to collect approximately 6 weeks after the workshop. SUMMARY:Moon Gazing Hare Lino Printing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Hello\, \nMy name is Helen McCormick and I’m a Devon based artist and qualified art and design teacher. I am passionate about teaching different artistic processes and have created this workshop to share my skills\, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to learn the basics of lino printing. \nMy workshop is designed to be a relaxed friendly space where you can meet new people and have the opportunity to create\, learn and have fun. Throughout the day I will teach you how to create a design\, and then transfer this to your lino block ready to carve. You will have practise opportunities to develop your cutting technique and familiarise yourself with the various cutting tools\, before embarking on your final design. \nYou will learn how to create a reduction print\, which means that you will print one colour and then make a second cut in the lino\, and then print the a different colour on top\, and so on. You will make 4 cuts in total and print 4 colours. We will be using 3 shades of blue and then a black. I will demonstrate every stage of the process so it all becomes clear. By the end of the workshop you will have a set of 5 final prints\, along with a test print and your carved lino block to take home. \nAll materials and equipment will be provided.
