SUMMARY:Spring Bird Garden Ornament Pottery Workshop
DESCRIPTION:ament Workshop \nMy name is Helen McCormick\, and I’m a local artist and qualified art teacher. I’ve been creating objects from clay for 30 years\, and I still absolutely love the process. I’m passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills\, knowledge\, and experience. \nMy workshop is designed to be a relaxed\, friendly space where you can meet new people and have the opportunity to create\, learn\, and have fun. \nDuring the first half of the workshop\, I will teach you how to make the basic shape of your spring bird garden ornament. In the second half\, you’ll learn how to apply coloured decorating slips to your work using brushes and slip trailers\, as well as how to carve into the surface to create beautiful patterns and textures. \nNo experience is necessary.\nAll materials and equipment will be provided. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the session. The only thing you need to bring is an apron or to wear old clothes. (If you can trim your nails beforehand\, that would be helpful\, as you’ll be handling soft clay.) \nAfter the workshop\, I will carefully take your beautiful bird home and fire it in my kiln. It will be glazed with a stoneware transparent glaze\, making it suitable for display in your home or garden. The price also includes a metal rod so that your bird can be displayed proudly in your garden. \nYour piece will be ready to collect approximately six weeks after the workshop. I will contact you with the date and time for collection once everything has been fired. \nI’m happy to store your work for up to six months\, after which any uncollected pieces will be donated to charity. \n

The only thing you need to bring is a packed lunch\, wear old clothes or bring an apron and trim any long nails. \nAfter the workshop\, I will carefully take your sculpture home and fire it in my kiln. These sculptures are not glazed as the terracotta will age beautifully in your garden over time. Your sculpture will be ready to collect approximately 6 weeks after the workshop from the Walronds. I will let you know the date and time. Please keep an eye out for the emails or contact me if your email address changes. \nNB I am happy to store your work for 6 months after the collection date\, after which time it will be donated to charity. \n
