A Day of Clay is a fun workshop designed to give children the opportunity to be creative through learning how to use clay.
About this event
A Day of Clay is organised by Helen McCormick, an experienced art teacher and ceramic artist, who lives locally in Cullompton. The workshop is for any child aged 7-12 who would like the opportunity to have fun, be creative and learn clay modelling skills. In each workshop they will create themed artworks, that will be fired in Helen’s kiln.
The themes and dates are:
2nd August 2022 Gargoyles and Monsters Sculptures
4th August 2022 THEME CHANGE to Under the Sea (as 9th August was so popular)
9th August 2022 Under the Sea
11th August 2022 Jurassic Park
All materials and equipment will be provided. The only things you will need to bring is an apron, creativity and excitement. Juice, biscuits and fruit will be provided for a snack. If your child has any dietary requirements please provide your own alternative.
Your child’s ceramic work will be available for collection from The Walronds or the Library in Cullompton at a mutually convenient time. If collection is not possible, postage of their artwork can be arranged at an additional cost of £5. The clay work will be returned unglazed, so that your child can have the pleasure of painting it afterwards at home. Painting kits will be available to purchase at a small cost at the end of the workshop, however, you can use acrylic paint to finish the sculptures. If using poster paint I would advise mixing it with some PVA glue to seal the colour onto the ceramic.
