Seed Pod Garden Ornament Pottery Workshop

September 1 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

My name is Helen McCormick and I’m a local ceramic artist and teacher. I’ve been creating objects from clay for the past 26 years, and I still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to have a go for the first time or to develop their skills further.

Join me for a fun and creative session where you can learn to make beautiful garden ornaments inspired by nature’s seed pods. This in-person event will guide you through the pottery-making process, from shaping the clay to adding intricate details. Whether you’re a beginner or have experience with pottery, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to unleash their artistic side.

During the morning you will learn how to create your beautiful ornaments using traditional hand-building techniques. You will make 3 in total. In the afternoon you will learn how to apply glaze to your work. This process is called raw glazing, which means your work will only need to be fired once in the kiln, which reduces electricity used and helps the environment.

All materials and equipment will be provided, including 3 metal rods of varying heights. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the day. The only thing you need to bring is a packed lunch and an apron or wear old clothes.

After the workshop, I will carefully take your ornaments home and fire them in my kiln. Your beautiful creations will be ready for collection 4-6 weeks after the workshop finishes from the Walronds, dependent on how quickly the clay dries out. I will let you know the time and date.

Please follow me on Instagram and Facebook to see photographs of work made in my previous workshops. Search for Helen McCormick Ceramics

There is FREE parking at the Walronds. The carpark is located at the back of the building. To access the carpark you will need to turn up Tiverton Road off the High Street, and then turn left just before the fire station onto Shortlands Lane. It is a narrow lane and easily missed. Drive a few yards up the lane and you will see the sign for the carpark on the left. Turn left and follow the drive through the gate ahead. Here is a link to Google Maps which should take you right to the carpark entrance. https://goo.gl/maps/JKfioUFi3FCSnCHJ9 What3words is pets.commutes.arriving https://w3w.co/pets.commutes.arriving
